Sweep the legs, Bobby

So the NFL has determined that Bobby Wade's block on Rodney was legal. Be that as it may--and the actual rule is esoteric, to say the least--I found this comment by Wade re: the block to be interesting, and telling (and amusing):
"We got in a hurry-up situation and we have a run called '16 Stretch' where the tailback is stretching the play and I've got to come in and handle the force. Rodney was the force. I squared him up, looked him dead in the eye, and hit him in his thighs..."
What the hell is that even supposed to mean? How do you look someone "dead in the eye" and then hit them in the the thighs? Was he trying to sound like a tough guy by saying he looked him "dead in the eye"? 'Cause the effect kind of gets lost when he immediately follows that by saying he hit him in his thighs...or anywhere below the face, really. In fact, that quote makes him sound like a wuss (yes, a "wuss"--I'm trying to keep this PG-13-rated...for some reason...oh, wait, I already said "ballsy" in my last post...never mind...Bobby Wade is a pussy...there, I said it). It's like a gangster saying, "I looked him dead in the eye, and then I turned him around and shot him in the back of the head..."


Oh, and Bobby must have slept through his anatomy classes at Arizona, 'cause the thigh and the knee are two distinctly different body parts.



I'm guessing that if and when the Pats beat the Amazing Manginis, Rodney will be in the starting lineup for the following game. Don't ever say I'm not an optimist...
