The current leaders of 60s-girl-group revivalism, The Pipettes, follow a pretty simple formula: cute girls + groovy outfits x treacly three minute pop songs = Phil Spector's white dream.
I prefer salt over sugar so I like this best in small doses, but there's no denying the catchiness. And even though they stole the concept from Weezer, this vid is still a great send-up of a scene from the Russ Meyer classic, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls:

Was The Rocky Horror Picture Show to some extent a parody of Valley of the Dolls?
I haven't seen RHPC since college and you can't expect me to remember anything from college...but I think you might be on to something...It's like RHPC with more cleavage.
