The Randomizer.

  • So you think you saw a lot of Peyton this season? Get ready for PetyonTV--nonstop, 24/7. There's no denying it now: he's got the numbers, and now he has the ring. Barring injury, history will remember him as one of the two or three best quarterbacks in the history of the league, even if he never wins another big game. Too bad...I kind of liked him as the pathetic loser...
  • On the other hand, he's not dating Gisele...
  • Calvin Johnson. Dwayne Jarrett. Ted Ginn Jr. Sidney Rice. Courtney Taylor. Anthony Gonzalez. Dwayne Bowe. The list of quality receivers in the 2007 NFL draft is a long one. It would be unusual for the Pats to spend a high draft pick on a receiver for two consecutive years, but it says here that it should be done. To me, it should be their #1 draft priority, and although there's no way they would trade up to get someone like Johnson or Jarrett, the depth at that position is such that they should get quality with one of their late first-rounders or their second-rounder. There's even a guy from Florida, Dallas Baker, to add to their stable of Gators.
  • The Celtics are 2-21 since losing Paul Pierce to injury. They simply can't win without him. Which really makes a pretty convincing argument for him as league MVP. Now, I understand he's not going to win it, or even be considered seriously. But if a team essentially can't win without a player, doesn't that make him (most) valuable?
  • Bob Sanders is really, really good.
  • As long as he's on the Sox, of course I'll root for him and everything, but is anyone else getting tired of the whole Curt Schilling Experience? Can't the man just shut the hell up once in a while? He had a decent season in '06, but that's all it was: decent. Look at the numbers or just use your memory--he wasn't a dominant pitcher. He was more like a pitcher who will merely keep his team in most games. That's certainly valuable, but is it worth $13 million? I'm saying no. He says the money is no big deal to him, so I assume that means he'd pitch for $8 or $9 mil in '08, right? Because if I were Theo, that's all I'd be offering. And now there are rumors that he is badly out of shape. I have no problem with the Sox throwing money around, but there's no reason for them to cower at the metaphorical gun he's holding to their heads. Oh, and in case you didn't hear, he is going to put his weight (no pun intended) behind John McCain, not Mitt Romney, in '08. Great, Curt, thanks for sharing...
  • So after numerous years of sub-mediocre ads during the Super Bowl, when exactly are people going to realize that watching a three-hour game just to see the shilling (hah!) of products is, well...totally lame. After a couple utterly unfunny ads for Sierra Mist, I swiftly turned my attention to more interesting distractions, like Tom Chambers dunks on YouTube:

  • For those of you who don't remember him, Tom Chambers was--much like Bob Sanders--really, really good:

  • I'm no puckhead, so can someone tell me if Zdeno Chara is any good? The Bruins signed him to a huge contract to make him the cornerstone of the team, and yet only the pathetic Flyers have allowed more goals per game than the Bruins. And every time I read about a game, Chara has committed a costly penalty or turned the puck over at a crucial time. So I would appreciate it if someone who knows about hockey could enlighten me. Is he earning his contract?
  • I could care less that Bill Belichick is an a-hole as long as the Pats are winning games. However, it's pretty obvious the Ted Johnson story reflects very poorly on the coach. It's one thing to disparage players in practice, it's quite another to put their health at risk. Obviously, this is not the first time a coach has put a player in this sort of situation, and the impression I get is that Belichick recognizes he made a significant mistake. Nevertheless, I'm worried that this situation will make free agents less interested in playing for the Pats. Especially with all the good-time vibes given off by the feel-good coaches of the year, Lovie and Tony. The thing is, Belichick has been able to convince players to come to the team by selling the ideas of teamwork and winning. And by winning, I mean winning the Big Game. But they haven't won the Big Game for a couple of years, and the teamwork ideal gets tarnished by this concussion story. So if they don't pay a premium price, what will be the allure for free agents to come to Foxborough?

Remember when TV ads were funny? Now it's like - Who writes this crap? I think we need some adult supervision here.

Not as obvious as Janet's halftime stunt, which makes Price's trick so much more delicious!
