MLB Players of the Week.

(o.k., a little more than a week . . . )

AL: Alex Rodriguez, NY--In 7 games, went 10 for 28 with 10 runs and 15 RBI. Hit his sixth homer last night, which brings up the philosophical question: If he hits a homer in every game this season, will Yankees fans stop booing him?
NL: Eric Byrnes, ARI--The catalyst to Arizona'a 7-2 start, hit .300 with 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, and 4 steals.

Interestingly, both of these guys are remembered in Boston for gaffes that contributed to remarkable playoff comebacks by the Sox: A-Rod for slapping at Arroyo's glove in the 2004 ALCS, and Byrnes for missing the plate and then getting tagged out by Varitek while strolling back to the dugout in the 2003 ALDS. Of course, if and when Byrnes ever comes back to Fenway, the fans won't be booing him, they'll be saying "Boo-yrnes."
(They will be booing A-Rod.)
